DRIVER'S EDUCATION

This course is required for all new Maryland drivers. The course includes 30 hours of classroom training and 6 hours of behind the wheel education. The student may take the class beginning at age 15.

The classroom training covers topics such as basic maneuvering, defensive driving, parking, alcohol and driving, dealing with intersections, highway driving, driving in bad weather, vehicular emergencies, etc.

All students must present their birth certificate or learner's permit on the first night. Parents are encouraged to attend the first half of the first night with their student. Parents will learn about the graduated license system as well as how to navigate the licensing journey.

To pass the course, students must achieve an 80% on all quizzes plus the final exam. During the behind the wheel sessions, students must demonstrate the required skills on their checklist.

We offer various schedules including two and five week sessions. The two week sessions meet Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. The five week session will meet either Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. We also offer courses at Stephen Decatur High School . These are two week sessions and meet from 3:00 to 6:15 p.m. Call us for course schedules.
